Allan Myers wins national asphalt awards
February 24, 2025
Allan Myers was recently honored at the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) 70th Annual Meeting in Maui, HI. The company earned three 2024 Quality in Construction (QIC) awards for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. The three projects were all located in Maryland.
“All contractors’ projects earning a Quality in Construction award are measured against best practices,” said 2024 NAPA Chair Brady Meldrem. “Earning the Quality in Construction Award demonstrates that Allan Myers has met or exceeded these rigorous standards.”
The following projects earned the award for General Paving – Under 50,000 tons:
- I-495 southbound between MD 4 and south of MD 214 – This project consisted of resurfacing a four-lane interstate that is one of the busiest roads in the state, while overcoming challenges that included many ramps along the way.
- MD 100 from Coca Cola Drive to Queenstown Road – Allan Myers worked with its trucking partner to incorporate software that enabled them to track load counts, round-trip times, and truck location in real time.
- MD 198 from Old Columbia Pike to PG County Line – The company placed a 2-inch asphalt surface course, working around challenges that included busy intersections, ramps, and multi-turn lanes along this congested route.
