In 1939, Allan A. and Allan C. Myers went into partnership to start a hauling company with one dump truck. Two years later, Allan C. took temporary leave of their new company and answered the call to his country in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. His experience over the next three years would shape the future of our company.

As part of a U.S. Navy Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) also known as Seabees, Allan C. helped build airfields and other infrastructure projects in the South Pacific during World War II. He brought what he learned back to the family business.

Allan C. did not just return with construction-industry best practices but with a service man’s mindset that has influenced our culture ever since. The “can do” mindset of the Seabees is alive and well at Allan Myers.

Today, we actively recruit veterans from all branches of the military for positions in all our divisions, from professional services, craft and skilled labor, and CDL drivers. We also work closely with the Partnership for Youth Success Program, which helps soldiers prepare for careers after serving by connecting them with employers who understand the skill, discipline and work ethic they bring to a business.
